I love the artistic style of this game. Every level is unique, introducing new environments, enemies, and obstacles to deal with. The game is challenging, especially in the later stages, but never is unfair or frustrating enough to stop playing. There is also a lot to discover, collect, and upgrade your character with. This, combined with the fact that there is a new game plus mode and a secret character you unlock with his/her own campaign, makes Shovel Knight more than worthy of it's purchase price. If you like anything about old school platformers, I can pretty much guarantee that you will love this game. There's something special about this game that I love. Like the original Zelda and Mario, there's no tutorial, causing you to problem solve. There's elements of puzzles (like I said), RPGs (picking how to spend and level) and platformers. And while hard, there are no life systems, as instead of Game Overs, you lose gold.
